Famous Numberplate

In the march 1997 issue of german magazin VW-Scene was a feature about two green cars from Vienna:

If you take a close look to the numberplate of the Type 34 you can see a very well known number…

that is still on the NOSback of Ernst.

poor man white walls

as I had to clean the tires anyway, I tried to figure out how my beetle would look like with white wall tires by using tire foam.

I´m glad it only lasted for minutes…

No typical DKT style

… had this car for the typical austrian winter.

14 YEARS AGO…

…parked this “looker” in front of the garage. a 59 export beetle.
got it 1994 for free, needed only new brakes.
after a small service, checkered flag roof, porsche wheels on adapters and a low budget lowering kit in front ( not shown on the pics )
combined with some goodies in the enginebay, it was ready for roadracing in and around vienna.

inside: a leather trimmed wooden steering wheel from speedwell was mounted and the seats are from an early VW scirocco in fat bisquit design. shifter was a no name product from empiman’s shop called “autoboutique”.
a homemade rollcage was installed behind the seats and the car got a new owner some weeks later.
dont know where the beetle is now…

a small meeting near vienna with friends .

started with some telephon calls , emails and ended with about 50 cars under the trees .
some guys drove 300 kilometers and more to have fun with other brainiacs in aircooled cars .

from bug to bus , from notch to square and from manx to ghia ,
every type was there .

a sunny day with nice people and perfect weather !!!
